A Rare Cut Of THE SHINING Featuring A Deleted Scene Is Currently Up For Auction
An alternate cut of The Shining is soon to go to auction, and as anyone who is obsessed with the film may know, this is a big deal. For those that don't know the significance of this find, alternate cuts of this film are incredibly rare due to the fact that Stanley Kubrick was believed to have burned all unused footage of the film after the final edits were complete.
This cut of the film features one deleted scene in which Wendy carries Danny, which admittedly sounds pretty damn boring. Despite that, Slashfilm reports the auction price for this film starts at $3,687.87, and one would imagine the seller will get well beyond that. The seller is Kubrick's former personal assistant Emilio D’Alessandro, so anyone questioning the validity of this footage can rest assured that it is legit.
I get why its a big deal, but I can also think of a lot of other things I would want for that kind of money, would you drop a dime on this piece of film history?
Below you'll find a video that offers the script pages of the deleted scene and in a way reconstructs the ending.
