A Rare STAR WARS Treasure Was Just Discovered in an Attic and It's Worth Thousands of Dollars
There’s always that dream scenario for collectors… you crack open an old box in the attic or storage and suddenly you’re staring at a small fortune. That fantasy just turned into reality as revealed in a recent Reddit post that has Star Wars fans and toy collectors scrambling to rethink what might be hiding in their own homes.
A user going by Mayday______ shared a story about sorting through her mother-in-law’s attic, where a massive stash of 1980s Kenner Star Wars figures had been sitting untouched for over three decades.
The task was to go through the toys and sell them off. But, what she uncovered isn’t just a random batch of old figures. It’s the kind of find that would excite any collector.
The collection reportedly includes figures in shockingly good condition, along with a mix of Warhammer and Transformers items. What makes this even more interesting is that the account has a solid history of posting about organizing and identifying Warhammer pieces, which gives this discovery a bit more credibility than your average viral post.
And then there are the heavy hitters. Among the figures are two R2-D2 Pop-up Lightsaber variants, which currently pull in around $500 each on eBay. That alone would be a great score, but that’s just the beginning.
The real prize here is Yak Face, one of the rarest figures from Kenner’s infamous “Last 17” line. For collectors, Yak Face is basically the crown jewel of late-run Star Wars figures, often valued between $700 and $800 when complete and in solid condition. And according to the post, the figure looks to be in great shape.
Even more impressive, many of the white-colored figures appear to have avoided the dreaded yellowing that usually comes with age. Considering these toys are now over 40 years old, that’s kind of wild.
Naturally, collectors wasted no time jumping into the comments and direct messages. Some offers have reportedly reached as high as $4500 for the lot. And depending on what’s fully complete, that number could climb even higher. If the uncarded Boba Fett still has all of its accessories, that’s another major win sitting in the pile.
For those not deep into the collecting scene, the “Last 17” refers to the final wave of figures released by Kenner in 1985. These included Han Solo in Carbonite Chamber, multiple Ewoks, EV-9D9, and two versions of Luke Skywalker that together can fetch around $1000. From what’s been shared so far, this attic stash includes a large portion of that lineup, which makes the discovery even more insane.
If everything checks out, this isn’t just a lucky find, it’s a time capsule of one of the most sought-after eras in Star Wars toy history. Somewhere out there, a collector is getting ready to land an unbelievable haul when these finally go up for sale.
