A Rebel in a Dystopian Society Races To Freedom in Stunning Sci-Fi Short Film HELIO
I had the opportunity to see this sci-fi short film Helio a few years ago at a little genre film festival called FilmQuest. I was seriously blown away by the film and I've been wondering when it would finally be released online for the world to watch and enjoy. Well, it's finally here!
Helio was directed by a talented young director named Teddy Cecil. He put everything he had into creating this film and the end result is stunning. The story is set in a dystopian underground society and it centers on a miner who finds the key to freedom and attempts to escape before the hostile government kills him first.
This is a very noir-style film and the visuals are beautifully striking. As you'll see, this movie is inspired by films like Blade Runner and 1984. Not only is the story interesting, but it also has a strong main character, and it's action-packed.
Here's the full synopsis:
HELIO is a short, visceral film centered on a post-apocalyptic underground society where miners work for light to survive. But when a dying rebel thrusts the unexpected onto an unassuming worker’s lap, all hell breaks loose. What begins as one man’s race to escape the hostile government quickly escalates into a city-wide uprising of the people.
I really hope you take the time to watch this short. I think you're really going to love it.
