A Remake of SHORT CIRCUIT is in The Works and it Will Put a Latinx Spin on The Story

Spyglass Media Group is moving forward with a remake of the classic 1986 film Short Circut. They’ve hired the writing team of Eduardo Cisneros (Instructions Not Included) and Jason Shuman (Half Brothers) to develop the script, which will put a Latinx spin on the story.

The original movie focused on Number 5, an experimental military robot that is struck by lightning and gains a human-like intelligence. It’s a classic film that a lot of kids enjoyed in the 80s. It was directed by John Badham and starred Ally Sheedy, Steve Guttenberg and Fisher Stevens.

I assume this remake will tell a similar story as the original film but it will feature a Latinx family. The film is being produced by Project X Entertainment’s James VanderbiltPaul Neinstein and William Sherak, with Rehab Entertainment’s John W. Hyde as executive producer alongside Terissa Kelton.

Are any of you even interested in seeing a remake of Short Circuit?
