A STAR WARS Sequel Trilogy Character Might Be Getting Their Own Spin-Off Film

It’s been nearly six years since Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker hit theaters, and while we’ve had a steady stream of Disney+ series to keep the galaxy alive, the theatrical side of Star Wars has been quiet. But according to a new report, Lucasfilm might be looking at developing a spin-off centered on one of its characters.

The scoop comes from entertainment insider Daniel Richtman, who claims Lucasfilm is currently “discussing a spinoff film to the sequel trilogy.”

While Richtman didn’t name who the film would focus on, he added, “Unclear for which character.” So no, we don’t know who it is, but Rey is already getting her film, so it will be someone other than her.

Daisy Ridley is set to reprise her role as Rey in a new film from director Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy. That film will reportedly pick up 15 years after Episode IX and follow Rey’s efforts to rebuild the Jedi Order.

Beyond that, Star Wars’ cinematic return officially kicks off with The Mandalorian & Grogu in 2026. Also in development are Shawn Levy’s Star Wars: Starfighter, said to star Ryan Gosling, and James Mangold’s untitled film exploring the origins of the Force.

Whether or not this sequel trilogy spin-off actually happens remains to be seen. But I’m sure Lucasfilm is exploring all kinds of potential projects, whether or not they actually make it to the big screen… well, we all know how that goes.
