A Tenth SAW Film Has Gone Into Active Development
Thanks to Chris Rock, the Saw franchise has been revived with a film titled Spiral: From the Book of Saw, and it’s said to give us a different and unique twist on the horror franchise. While we wait for that movie to be released and see how the story turns out, another Saw movie has gone into development.
Yep! Twisted Pictures is in active development on a tenth Saw movie! The news comes from the latest issue of Production Weekly which says the title of the film is Saw X, with Twisted co-founders Oren Koules and Mark Burg once again producing.
There are no details on what the plot of the film will be, but I imagine it will be in line with all of the other Saw films that have been made. I can’t say I’m excited; I’m just waiting for Spiral to come out to see if that one will actually be good.
Franchise creators James Wan and Leigh Whannell are also attached as producers on the project, but that doesn’t mean it will be good. The best film in the franchise is the first one, and it was all downhill from there.
Rock stars in the upcoming film alongside Samuel L. Jackson and Max Minghella, who play detectives investigating a string of grisly murders by a killer who is targeting cops. These detectives find themselves in “the center of the killer's morbid game.”
Darren Bousman (of Saw II, Saw III, Saw IV, Repo! The Genetic Opera) directed Sprial, and this is the synopsis:
A sadistic mastermind unleashes a twisted form of justice in Spiral, the terrifying new chapter from the book of Saw. Working in the shadow of an esteemed police veteran (Samuel L. Jackson), brash Detective Ezekiel "Zeke" Banks (Chris Rock) and his rookie partner William Schenk (Max Minghella) take charge of a grisly investigation into murders that are eerily reminiscent of the city’s gruesome past. Unwittingly entrapped in a deepening mystery, Zeke finds himself at the center of the killer’s morbid game.
Spiral: From The Book of Saw will be released on May 14th.
