A TV Version of THE PURGE is in Development and it Will Focus on More Than Purge Day
By now we all know what The Purge movies are about, that one day a year when everyone cuts loose, all crime is legal, and murderous chaos fills every American city. Now that concept is coming to TV and the writer is revealing how he'll make the TV series different from the popular movies.
Writer/director James DeMonaco says the series will show fans what happens the rest of the year. Last April it was made official that The Purge franchise was coming to the small screen. DeMonaco will oversee the show while Blumhouse Television will produce.
Entertainment Weekly reported that more was revealed about the show during the NBC upfront presentation in New York today. Blumhouse CEO Jason Blum said viewers of the show will see just how the “awful law” affects America during the other 364 days a year.
DeMonaco tells the outlet that he came up with the idea for the first season and will probably write the pilot.
The TV version of The Purge will air on USA and SyFy. Is this a series you'd be interested in watching?
