A Video From the Set of THE MANDALORIAN Has Surfaced and It Teases Some New Details

Thanks to Making Star Wars, we have a video from the set of Jon Favreau’s live-action Star Wars series The Mandalorian. The video shows director Taika Waititi and Favreau hard at work directing the actors through an action scene that involves some Stormtroopers and what looks to be another surprise.

Waititi is directing the season finale of The Mandalorian, and below, we have some additional details on the story that you might want to read. But those details do contain spoilers.

I begin this video with two photos for clarity and then the video which is much lower resolution gives us a sense of the action. Full details can be found at MakingStarWars.net https://makingstarwars.net/2018/11/exclusive-video-of-taika-waititi-directing-star-wars-the-mandalorians-season-finale/

Before we get to new story details, here’s what has been previously revealed regarding the series.

The Mandalorian stars Pedro Pascal, Gina Carano, and maybe even Carl Weathers (Rocky, Predator). Jon Favreau wrote and produced the series, which is set after the fall of the Empire and before the emergence of the First Order and follows “a lone gunfighter in the outer reaches of the galaxy far from the authority of the New Republic.”

The episodes will also be directed by Dave Filoni (Star Wars: The Clone Wars), Deborah Chow (Jessica Jones), Rick Famuyiwa (Dope), and Bryce Dallas Howard (Solemates). Howard will also have a role in the series, and Waititi will provide the voice of a droid character.

As for the new story details, here’s what was revealed:

The story takeaway is that by the end of the season, our Mando hero is taking the Remnant Empire on on the black lava world. Also not shown in the action moment are the Death Troopers who are involved in the sequence as it unfolds. Why is the Mando fighting the Empire? Is he trying to rescue someone? Was he hired or is it personal? I love the idea that we get to see this Mando fight the Empire and if he wins, he kind of wins his own war against the bad guys of classic Star Wars. It grows the universe instead of making it smaller. It doesn’t mean the fight ended with Luke Skywalker and his friends. I have to say, if he does succeed, The First Order will likely pick up the vendetta against the Mando by the time Kylo Ren emerges to destroy the galaxy again.

The series will premiere on Disney+ but there’s no release date yet. What do you think about the new story details that have been revealed here?
