A WONDER WOMAN Spinoff Based on the Amazons of Themyscira Is Reportedly in Development at WB

Wonder Woman has been a big success for Warner Bros., and excitement for the sequel is high, especially after the trailer for the film’s sequel was released this past weekend. A lot of fans flipped for it, and there’s no doubt that Wonder Woman 1984 will be a big box office success. So, it makes sense that the studio would want to expand on the world of Wonder Woman with a spinoff.

According to a report coming out of CCXP, WB is developing a spinoff that will focus on the Amazons of Diana Prince's home of Themyscira. It’s also said that Wonder Woman director Patty Jenkins will produce but not direct the film.

The information comes from Brazilian journalist M.P. Morales, who tweeted the following:

That roughly translates to, “Patty Jenkins confirmed that WB is developing a movie focused on the Amazon! She will not drive, but will work on it as an executive producer! No further details.”

This wouldn’t really be a surprise if this is true. After all, the studio is also developing an Aquaman spinoff film that will focus on The Trench.

If the Amazonian movie is really happening, it’s probably in the early stages of development and something we won’t see up on the big screen for a few years. I imagine the studio is going to wait for Wonder Woman 1984 to come out and succeed before they officially pull the trigger and announce it.
