Lionsgate has released the first trailer for an upcoming comedy titled Sick Girl, starring The Vampire Diaries actress Nina Dobrev, as a young woman who fakes a cancer diagnosis when she feels her friends slipping out of her life.

In the story, “When Wren Pepper (Dobrev) feels her closest friends slipping away, she lets loose a little white lie that snowballs into a colossal, life-altering event.” The film makes the feature film directorial debut of Jennifer Cram and it’s described as “a hilarious take on the price of insecurity and the rewards of true friendship.”

The movie also stars Sherry Cola (Joy Ride), Brandon Mychal Smith, Stephanie Koenig, Haley Magnus, Ray Mckinnon, Dan Bakkedahl, and Wendi Mclendon-Covey.

Sick Girl will debut in theaters and on demand/digital on October 20th.
