A Young Woman is Stranded on an Island and Hunted By a Monster in Trailer For SWEETHEART
A short trailer has been released for an upcoming horror monster thriller called Sweetheart. The film tells the story of a young woman (Kiersey Clemons) who finds herself stranded on an island in the middle of the ocean and it’s there that she finds that she is being stalked and hunted by a sea creature from the dark and treacherous depths of the ocean.
I had the opportunity to see this movie at Sundance, and I actually really liked the concept. Unfortunately, it wasn’t executed very well. As I said in my review, the film was shot well, and the creature design and visual effects were pretty cool, but the script, dialogue, and pacing could have used some help.
Here’s the synopsis for Sweetheart:
Washing ashore onto a desolate island, Jen (Kiersey Clemons) has already survived a harrowing ordeal. Stranded and alone, she searches for shelter. Finding only the scattered remains of a long-abandoned campground and weary from her terrible journey, she collapses in hope of a peaceful rest. But night is when it’s most dangerous here. That’s when the creature comes. And when it slithers out of the water, it must feed.
The movie was directed by JD Dillard, who previously directed the film Slight, which is a great movie. If the trailer interests you, you’ll be able to watch the movie on VOD on October 22nd.
