District 9 and Elysium director Neill Blomkamp has made a horror movie titled Demonic, and it looks unlike any other kind of horror movie that I’ve seen before. This film looks like it tells a unique horror story in a unique way, as Blomkamp used a patent-pending new method of using volumetric capture, which is a three-dimensional video technology that turns actors into geometric objects, to make the movie.

The filmmaker secretly shot the film during the pandemic and the story follows a young woman who “unleashes terrifying demons when supernatural forces at the root of a decades old rift between mother and daughter are ruthlessly revealed in this horror-thriller.”

When talking about the project, Blomkamp told EW, "Living out here in this slightly more rural area I was thinking we should self-finance something so that we could make something cool. For a long time, I've been really interested in films like Paranormal Activity, and lower budget stuff that is pretty terrifying, and so we just started working on this concept."

I’m incredibly curious about this movie. I’ve always wanted to see what Blomkamp would do with the horror genre, and we’re about to find out! This movie is going to take audiences on a wild nightmarish ride.

Demonic stars Carly Pope (Elysium), Chris William Martin (The Age of Adaline, Aliens vs. Predator: Requiem, The Vampire Diaries), and Michael Rogers (SirenThe Blacklist, Supernatural).

The movie will arrive in theaters, on-demand, and on digital on August 20, 2021. Check out the trailer and let us know if you’re looking forward to watching this one!
