Aaron Pierre Talks About Becoming a STAR WARS Fan as a Kid and Why the Set of STARFIGHTER Is So Magical

Aaron Pierre is highly in demand in Hollywood, having a role in Apple’s The Morning Show, voicing a character in the animated film GOAT, and starring in the upcoming DC series Lanterns.

But DC isn’t the only fandom Pierre has teamed up with, as he is part of the star-studded ensemble of the upcoming film Star Wars: Starfighter.

Pierre became a fan of Star Wars when he was just five years old, and a family friend took him to see The Phantom Menace while his parents were at work.

The experience was so formative that he still remembers minute details from the day, such as the exact bus they took home from West Croydon. “I just remember being totally blown away by the enormity of Star Wars and how it immersed you into the universe,” he told GQ.

Last year, when he stepped on the set of Star Wars: Starfighter as an official cast member, that same sense of wonder became normal life.

“Whole worlds are literally built for you to walk through, touch, go inside and climb. The music that gets played before a scene commences…” For the first time in our conversation, Pierre is talking quickly. “It feels like you’re on stage. Like, the mud is real!” He grins. “Sorry, I’m going on and on and on.”

Of course he’s going on and on, as any true Star Wars fan would after stepping into that universe. It’s cool when people who love the franchise are able to become a part of it, and I look forward to seeing how this story works out.

The film is being directed by Shawn Levy from a script written by Jonathan Tropper. Along with Pierre, it stars Ryan Gosling, Matt Smith, Mia Goth, Amy Adams, and Flynn Gray. The story is set five years after The Rise of Skywalker.

Star Wars: Starfighter is currently scheduled to arrive in theaters on May 28, 2027.
