Aaron Sorkin’s THE SOCIAL NETWORK Follow-Up Gets Fall 2026 Release Date With Title and Cast Confirmed
Sony Pictures has locked in the long-awaited follow-up to The Social Network. The new film, officially titled The Social Reckoning, is set to hit theaters on October 9, 2026.
The project reunites audiences with the world of Facebook, this time diving into the explosive revelations that rocked the company in 2021. Jeremy Strong has been tapped to step into the role of Mark Zuckerberg, while Mikey Madison will portray whistleblower Frances Haugen.
Jeremy Allen White is set to play Wall Street Journal reporter Jeff Horowitz, the journalist behind The Facebook Files, a series of articles that exposed the platform’s harmful practices.
The ensemble also includes Bill Burr, adding his sharp edge to the cast. Behind the scenes, the film is being produced by Todd Black, Peter Rice, Stuart Besser, and Aaron Sorkin, who is once again writing and directing.
The Social Reckoning will debut during the Indigenous Peoples’ Day weekend, landing in a crowded release window alongside Universal’s Other Mummy from director Rob Savage and Paramount Animation’s The Legend of Aang: The Last Airbender.
The original The Social Network, released in 2010, was a cultural phenomenon that grossed over $226 million worldwide. It earned eight Oscar nominations, winning three, including Best Adapted Screenplay for Sorkin, Best Original Score for Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross, and Best Film Editing for Kirk Baxter and Angus Wall.
The film also launched the careers of Jesse Eisenberg, Rooney Mara, Andrew Garfield, and Armie Hammer.
Now, sixteen years later, Sorkin is returning with another sharp, timely drama.
