Aaron Sorkin's THE TRIAL OF THE CHICAGO 7 Adds Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Seth Rogen, and More

Aaron Sorkin is moving forward with his next film project, The Trial of The Chicago 7, and he’s added a few more actors in the cast.

Sacha Baron Cohen and Eddie Redmayne were previously announced, and now they will be joined by Joseph Gordon-LevittSeth RogenAlex Sharp, Jonathan Majors, and more. That’s a pretty great cast!

Sorkin (Molly’s Game) will direct the film from a script that he wrote, which is based on Brett Morgan’s documentary Chicago 10. Steven Spielberg will produce. The film recounts “the infamous 1969 trial of seven defendants charged by the federal government with conspiracy and more, arising from the countercultural protests in Chicago at the 1968 Democratic National Convention. The trial transfixed the nation and sparked a conversation about mayhem intended to undermine the U.S. government.”

Redmayne will take on the role of Tom Hayden, Baron Cohen will play Abbie Hoffman, Rogen will play Jerry Rubin, Gordon-Levitt will play Richard Schultz, Majors will play Bobby Seale, and Sharp as Rennie Davis.

Sorkin had this to say in a statement:

“I’m thrilled to be making a movie about one of one of the craziest, funniest, most intense, most tragic and most triumphant trials in American history. C-7 may take place in the late ’60’s, but there’s no better time to tell this story than today.”

Sorkin is a great writer, a solid director, and he has surrounded himself with a talented cast. There’s no doubt this film is going to turn out great.
