ABC Cancels ROSEANNE After Roseanne Barr's Racist Twitter Post
Well... that's the end of Roseanne! After a successful revival of the classic series, ABC has canceled it because Roseanne Barr decided to do something really stupid and post some racist remarks on Twitter.
The cancellation comes after Barr made a comment on Twitter Tuesday morning referring to former Obama aide Valerie Jarrett as the offspring of the "Muslim Brotherhood & Planet of the Apes." Barr ended up deleting the tweet and followed up with an apology saying:
"I apologize to Valerie Jarrett and to all Americans. I am truly sorry for making a bad joke about her politics and her looks. I should have known better. Forgive me-my joke was in bad taste. I am now leaving Twitter."
That didn't help the situation, though. Upon cancellation, ABC Entertainment president Channing Dungey made the following statement.
"Roseanne’s Twitter statement is abhorrent, repugnant and inconsistent with our values, and we have decided to cancel her show."
I don't blame them. Hollywood isn't tolerating this kind of behavior anymore. Not only is the racist remark terrible, but Roseanne's stupidity also cost the jobs of all the people who were working on the show.
