ABC is Developing New Comedy About a Group of Longtime Friends Called THE THREAD
Deadline reports that a new show from ABC called The Thread is in development. It will be a half-hour comedy from Michael Gagerman and Andrew Waller. Here’s the description of the show:
“The Thread is a modern ensemble comedy about a group of longtime friends, leading diverse, chaotic lives, who stay connected through a long running daily text thread. Through “The Thread”, these friends offer support, advice and ridicule, altering each other’s day to day life choices and changing the course of their lives.”
It sounds like a small twist on the idea behind Friends and How I Met Your Mother. If done right, this could be a very entertaining and successful show. My only wish is that they have an exit strategy. I feel like both Friends and HIMYM went on a little too long because they were both so wildly popular. I’d rather be left wanting more than having lost all interest in the characters.
