ABC is Not Moving Forward with BEWITCHED Reboot This Year

If you were excited for the reboot of the classic series Bewitched, I have some sad news for you. You’ll have to wait a little longer. Variety is reporting that ABC has decided to not move forward with the reboot this pilot season. The project is not dead, so it’s possible that we’ll see it next year. The reboot was going to be written by Kenya Barris and Yamara Taylor, both of whom would also be executive producers, and feature a black female witch who is in love with a white mortal man. Talking about the delay, Karey Burke said:

“I thought it was an incredibly smart rethink and re-telling of that story. Kenya is peerless in the television business as far as I’m concerned…[Kenya and I] decided together that the script wasn’t quite there.”
