Abigail Breslin Joins Matt Damon in Upcoming Drama STILLWATER

Abigail Breslin (Little Miss Sunshine, August: Osage County) has joined Matt Damon (Good Will Hunting, The Bourne Identity) in the drama Stillwater. The film will be directed by Tom McCarthy (Spotlight, Christopher Robin), and centers around a father who goes great lengths to help exonerate his estranged daughter. Here’s the official synopsis from Variety:

“Stillwater” follows an American oil-rig rough neck from Oklahoma, played by Damon, who travels to Marseille to visit his estranged daughter who is in prison for a murder she claims she did not commit. Confronted with language barriers, cultural differences, and a complicated legal system, Bill makes it his personal mission to exonerate his daughter (Breslin). In the process, he develops a friendship with a local woman and her young daughter and embarks on a personal journey of discovery and a larger sense of belonging in the world.

This sounds like a fascinating and complicated story, and I’m into it. Both actors are fantastic and I believe they will bring a great depth to these characters. The film is currently shooting, and I’m assuming we will get to see it early next year, but we will keep you posted. Let us know if this sounds like something you’re interested in.
