Action-Packed Trailer For DC's STARGIRL Offers Our Best Look Yet at The Justice Society
The CW has been promoting DC’s new Stargirl series for a very long time. It seems like this show should already be airing, but it doesn’t premiere until next month!
The series stars Brec Bassinger (School of Rock) in the role of Courtney Whitmore, a.k.a. Stargirl, as she accepts her superhero destiny. Joel McHale also has a role in the series as Golden Age Starman/Sylvester Pemberton, and Luke Wilson is playing Pat Dugan.
We’ve got a new trailer to share with you today that is loaded with new footage including shots of Stargirl in action along with a whole new generation of justice as Courtney's new Justice Society comes together. This looks like it could actually end up being a fun show worth checking out!
Stargirl will follow the story of Courtney Whitmore (Bassinger) “who is a smart, athletic and above all else kind girl. This high school teenager’s seemingly perfect life hits a major speedbump when her mother gets married and her new family moves from Los Angeles, California to Blue Valley, Nebraska. Struggling to adapt to a new school, make new friends, and deal with a new step-family, Courtney discovers her step-father has a secret; he used to be the sidekick to a superhero. ‘Borrowing’ the long-lost hero’s cosmic staff, Courtney becomes the unlikely inspiration for an entirely new generation of superheroes.”
Bassinger is also joined by S.W.A.T.‘s Lou Ferrigno Jr. who was cast as Golden Age Hourman, Brian Stapf as Ted Grant/Wildcat, Amy Smart as Barbara Whitmore, Henry Thomas as Charles McNider/Dr Mid-Nite, and Anjelika Washington in an undisclosed role.
Stargirl debuts Monday, May 18 on DC Universe. It will debut on The CW the next day, Tuesday, May 19. You can watch the trailer below and under that, you’ll find the plot summaries for the first three episodes.

“Stargirl”: In the series premiere episode, Courtney’s seemingly perfect life in Los Angeles gets upended with a move to Blue Valley, Nebraska with her mother Barbara (AMY SMART), stepfather Pat Dugan (LUKE WILSON) and stepbrother Mike (TRAE ROMANO), and she finds herself struggling to adapt to her new town and high school. But when Courtney discovers that Pat is harboring a major secret about his past, she ultimately becomes the unlikely inspiration for a new generation of Super Heroes.
“S.T.R.I.P.E.”: After Courtney has an unexpected run-in with a member of the Injustice Society of America, Pat reveals the truth to her about their history. Meanwhile, Barbara is elated when she sees Courtney making an attempt to get along with Pat, not knowing the secret they’ve been keeping. Finally, things take a dangerous turn at Blue Valley High’s open house night when Courtney becomes the target of a dangerous foe.
“Icicle”: After a dangerous run-in with a member of the Injustice Society of America, Pat warns Courtney to back down from her attempts to go after them. But when she encounters what she believes to be a message from one of them, she urges Pat to help her. Meanwhile, Barbara makes strides at work, which impresses her new boss Jordan Mahkent (NEIL JACKSON).”
