Adam Driver in Talks To Join Matt Damon in Ridley Scott's THE LAST DUEL and Ben Affleck Takes a Supporting Role
Adam Driver (Star Wars) is in talks to star alongside Matt Damon in director Ridley Scott’s upcoming film project The Last Duel. Ben Affleck was, at one point, looking to take on the role that Driver is up for, but Affleck will actually be appearing in a supporting role along with Killing Eve actress Jodie Comer.
The story is set in 14th century France, “the movie is an epic tale of betrayal and justice, told from three distinct points of view: two knights (Damon and Driver) whose bond is tested by treachery and a young woman (Comer) forced to navigate the brutal and oppressive culture of the era in order to survive.”
The script for the film was written by Damon, Affleck, and Nicole Holofcener (Can You Ever Forgive Me?, Enough Said) and it’s set up at Disney/Fox. While there is some great talent attached to the film, the studio still hasn’t given it the greenlight. Apparently, Disney is still trying to decide how to proceed with it. If they end up passing, I’m sure it won’t be hard for the movie to find a new home.
If Disney does decide to move forward with this, the movie will start shooting in early 2020. This is also the first project that Affleck and Damon have worked on writing together since Good Will Hunting.
