Adam Sandler Jokes If UNCUT GEMS Doesn't Win Any Awards, He Will Make a Movie "So Bad On Purpose" for Revenge

Adam Sandler has ventured into dramatic roles over the years in films like Punch-Drunk Love, Reign Over Me, and Funny People, but he is best known for his comedic parts, like his stint on SNL, and his films like Happy Gilmore, Billy Madison, Big Daddy, The Wedding Singer, and many more. This month, we get to see him take another shot at a darker character in the drama Uncut Gems.

The film was shown on the Film Festival circuit and has accrued quite a buzz about it. Sandler stars as New York City jeweler Howard Ratner, who deals diamonds to the celebrities while balancing a gambling addiction which makes for a risky lifestyle. Sandler’s performance is being hailed as possibly the greatest of his lifetime, and some are talking award-season buzz. In an interview with Howard Stern (via CinemaBlend), Sandler expressed how he would feel if he doesn’t get a nod in the upcoming awards:

If I don’t get it, I’m going to fucking come back and do one again that is so bad on purpose just to make you all pay. That’s how I get them.

He’s obviously joking, but he absolutely does have the power to make a revenge movie that is just terrible. He has had some major bombs in the past that prove he is totally capable of such things. But I think the root of it is just that he knows he put out his best performance, and he’s hoping to get some acknowledgement for it. I understand that. I can’t wait to see the film, and I hope Sandler does get nominated.

Uncut Gems hits theaters on December 25th.
