Adam Sandler Is Developing an Animated Coming of Age Musical Movie with SNL Alum Robert Smigel
Adam Sandler is as busy in his career as he’s ever been. After decades of comedies after his run on Saturday Night Live, he turned to dramas, and has continued to release films pretty often, with several hits and interesting roles.
In a recent live Q&A hosted by Happy Sad Confused podcast host Josh Horowitz following a screening of Sandler’s most recent film, Hustle in New York City, the actor opened up about what projects he has on the horizon, and dropped the news about a brand new movie he is working on. The film will be a collaboration with Robert Smigel, who also previously worked on SNL, creating the animated shorts in the Saturday TV Funhouse series, like the Ambiguously Gay Duo. Smigel is also the voice and puppeteer behind Triumph the Insult Comic Dog.
Sandler explained:
"He is directing a movie that we wrote together and we've been working on it for a long time, and actually, Paul Sado helped write that, and I think it comes out next November. It's a musical about elementary school — graduating elementary school and getting ready to move into junior high and being scared of middle school and the nerves of that."
This sounds like a cute and fun project right up Sandler’s alley. Does it sound like a movie you’ll want to check out?
