Adam Sandler Teaming Up With Netflix Again for Cheesy Fun Halloween Flick HUBIE HALLOWEEN

Adam Sandler and Netflix have been very busy busting out film projects, and we have word on another upcoming one. We already know about the movie Murder Mystery — co-starring Jennifer Aniston — that is coming to Netflix this month on the 12th, and now we can also look forward to a Halloween themed movie starring Sandler that will premiere, I’m guessing, in October.

Steven Brill (Little NickyMr. Deeds) is on board to direct from a script written by Sandler and his longtime collaborator and friend Tim Herlihy. The observer reports the following story for the film:

Good-natured but eccentric community volunteer Hubie Dubois (Sandler) finds himself at the center of a real murder case on Halloween night. Despite his devotion to his hometown of Salem, Massachusetts (and its legendary Halloween celebration), Hubie is a figure of mockery for kids and adults alike. But this year, something really is going bump in the night, and it’s up to Hubie to save Halloween.

The film will start production on July 8th in Boston and has already cast most of the movie. Here’s a rundown of the characters so far – Officer Steve, Sophie, Cooky, and Teenage Zombie Dad. The role of Mrs. Banerjee is still being cast, and details on the character are as follows:

Mrs. Banerjee (Female, 70-85): An older East Indian lady, matronly, kind. Mrs. Banerjee is a customer of Hubie’s at the deli who’s always amazed at how he can get the measurement exactly right before weighing. A good friend of Hubie’s mom, Mrs. Banerjee is seen at various times during the Halloween celebration, and is a loyal customer of Hubie’s after he buys the deli himself.

Sounds like it will be another goofy Sandler flick that may be funny, or may be a flop. I’m thinking it will be similar to an Ernest Scared Stupid type film, and hopefully it will end up giving us a few laughs. Extra points if it’s family friendly.

Do you think there’s hope for Hubie Halloween?
