Adam Savage of TESTED Sits Down with Peter Jackson to Talk About The Creation of MORTAL ENGINES

Mortal Engines is one of my most anticipated films as the year comes to close. The movie looks so visually spectacular and unique that it’s hard not to get excited. I just hope that it turns out to be as good as it looks!

Adam Savage had the opportunity to sit down and talk with writer and producer Peter Jackson as well as director Christian Rivers. In this lengthy interview, they discuss the process of adapting an epic story like Mortal Engines into a massive movie.

Some of the topics discussed include building out the world, telling cinematic stories, and the collaborative process of filmmaking at this huge scale.

The movie is based on the series of novels by Philip Reeve, and Jackson has said that this is just the beginning of an epic sci-fi fantasy saga that be believes deserves to be told.

This is the synopsis:

Thousands of years after civilization was destroyed by a cataclysmic event, humankind has adapted and a new way of living has evolved. Gigantic moving cities now roam the Earth, ruthlessly preying upon smaller traction towns. Tom Natsworthy (Robert Sheehan)—who hails from a Lower Tier of the great traction city of London—finds himself fighting for his own survival after he encounters the dangerous fugitive Hester Shaw (Hera Hilmar). Two opposites, whose paths should never have crossed, forge an unlikely alliance that is destined to change the course of the future.

The cast for the film also includes Hugo Weaving, Hera Hilmar, Robbie Sheehan (Geostorm), South Korean singer and actress Jihae (Mars), Ronan Raftery (Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them), Leila George (Mother, May I Sleep With Danger?), Patrick Malahide (Game of Thrones) and Stephen Lang (Avatar).

Mortal Engines will hit theaters on December 14th.
