Adam Shankman Has Signed On To Direct HOCUS POCUS 2 For Disney+

Hocus Pocus 2 is moving along, and has landed its director, Adam Shankman, who is known for directing The Wedding Planner, A Walk to Remember, Hairspray, and some episodes of Glee. Shankman has a working relationship with Disney already, as he is currently working on the Disney sequel, Disenchanted, with Amy Adams, Patrick Dempsey, and James Marsden.

The Hocus Pocus sequel is a long time coming, as the original was released way back in 1993. After all these years, fans are still dedicated to the fun, Halloween-themed movie, and we are ready for its sequel! A few months ago, when the sequel was announced, original stars Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker, and Kathy Najimy commented, saying they had not yet been asked, but they would be up for a return to the sequel. Details have been kept under wraps, but hopefully now that we have a director, things will start coming together, and we will get some info!

The original film also starred Omri Katz, Vinessa Shaw, and Thora Birch.

For those who need a refresher:

Hocus Pocus followed three witch sisters who, after having been cursed since 1693 in Salem, are inadvertently resurrected 300 years later by a boy whose family has moved from Los Angeles to Salem. However, as the witches try to acclimate to the 20th Century, they discover — to their horror — that Halloween has become a holiday.

Shankman is a wonderful choreographer and director, so this is a great fit, and makes for a really fun return to the Salem of Hocus Pocus. My kids and I are excited for Hocus Pocus 2. Are you?
