Adi Shankar To Direct HBO’s WATCHMEN Inspired Series GODS AND SECRETS

The producer of films such as Dredd and Lone Survivor, Adi Shankar, is about to make his directorial debut with an HBO series called Gods and Monsters. Shankar is also the same guy who developed those popular dark “bootleg” fan films such as Power/Rangers, Judge Dredd: Superfiend, and The Punisher: Dirty Laundry

The news comes from Deadline, who offers the following plot details: “The ‘dark’ drama will mine territory similar to Alan Moore’s Watchmen, exploring the darker logical underpinnings of superhero tropes. In a world in which superheroes exist, personal foibles and the resulting celebrity culture are front and center. In the story, tragedy has struck the superheroic team Guardians of Justice, and in its aftermath secrets are revealed, lives are changed, and the war to end all wars begins.”

It sounds intriguing, and the fact that it’s being developed at HBO makes the project even more appealing. Shankar will co-direct the series with Stewart Yost, and it will star WWE's Diamond Dallas Page, Denise RichardsJackson Rathbone (The Twilight Saga), Kellan Lutz (The Legend Of Hercules), Sharni Vinson (You're Next), Jane Seymour, and Andy Milonakis

Shankar seems to have impressed fans with what he has produced so far. Hopefully this next project of his turns out to be just as awesome.
