Adventurous New Trailer For Lucasfilm's WILLOW Series and Christian Slater Joins Cast

During the big Lucasfilm presentation at D23 Expo a new trailer was revealed for the upcoming fantasy series Willow, which serves as a sequel to Ron Howard’s classic film. I have a special place in my heart for that original film and I’ve been incredibly excited about this upcoming series! It looks like it’s going to take audiences on an amazing magical and dangerous adventure.

It was also announced that Christian Slater has joined the series and when talking about joining the franchise, he said: “I love the fantasy, the sci-fi, getting to be a part of this show was, I’ll be honest with you, an absolute dream come true. Getting to work with [Warwick] was great. [He’s] a legend. This whole cast I thought was great. To get to be a part of this family was very exciting. This was a very fun character, surprisingly we got to have some improv, some ad-libs, and came up with stuff on the spot which was a lot of fun. This was definitely a fun character, something I was really happy to do.”

The series takes place years after the events of the original Willow film. "It introduces all-new characters to the enchanted realm of fairy queens and two-headed Eborsisk monsters, and welcomes back its namesake hero, Willow Ufgood, performed once again by the unmatchable Warwick Davis."

The series also stars Erin Kellyman (Solo: A Star Wars Story, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier), Ellie Bamber (Nocturnal Animals), Ruby Cruz (Mare of Easttown), Tony Revolori (The Grand Budapest Hotel), Dempsey Bryk (The Birch), Talisa Garcia (Serve and Protect, Baptiste), and Game Of Thrones actress Rosabell Laurenti Sellers.

The story revolves around a group on a mission to save a kidnapped prince. The members of this group include "Dove (Bamber), whose backstory resembles that of Willow from the movie. Dove is an unassuming kitchen maid who proves she is the "chosen one" as she embarks on the journey. She is joined by Kit, the princess whose twin brother was abducted. She is destined to be a leader and, ultimately, the queen. Kellyman plays Jade, a servant who is Kit’s best friend and moral compass. She is on her way to becoming the best young warrior in the kingdom." Sellers is said to play a resourceful character with sharp, acerbic wit.

The group also includes a character who is said to echo Val Kilmer’s character in the movie. He’s described a a thief and liar, and joins the quest in exchange for getting out of prison. That character will be played by Bryk.

Jonathan Kasdan (Solo) wrote the pilot episode and will act as showrunner alongside Wendy Mericle (Arrow). The epic fantasy adventure is set in an age of swords, sorcery, myths, and monsters, and it will hit Disney+ on November 30th!
