AGATHA ALL ALONG Actor Joe Locke Says the Series Is Like THE GOONIES

We are less than two months away from the release of Marvel’s live-action Disney+ series, Agatha All Along, which is the WandaVision spinoff series that focuses on Kathryn Hahn’s character, Agatha Harkness.

She is joined by Patti LuPone’s Lilia, Sasheer Zamata’s Jennifer, Debra Jo Rupp’s Sharon, and Ali Ahn’s Alice, as well as characters played by Joe Locke, Maria Dizzia, Paul Adelstein, Miles Gutierrez-Riley, Okwui Okpokwasili and Aubrey Plaza.

In the series, Agatha Harkness finds herself “down and out of power after a suspicious goth Teen helps break her free from a distorted spell. Her interest is piqued when he begs her to take him on the legendary Witches’ Road, a magical gauntlet of trials that, if survived, rewards a witch with what they’re missing.

“Together, Agatha and this mysterious Teen pull together a desperate coven, and set off down, down, down, The Road…”

When asked about this journey during a recent interview with Empire, showrunner Jac Schaeffer and star Joe Locke, who plays the teen, recounted a story of Schaeffer sharing photos of The Witches' Road set with Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige. Locke recalled:

"Jac sent Kevin Feige a picture of the Witches' Road set and he replied, 'Oh my God, we're making The Goonies'. That's what I'd been saying — that we were making this adventure series."

Locke has revealed that the Agatha All Along script only refers to him as "Teen," but many reports have come out speculating that he is Scarlet Witch's teenage son, Billy, aka Wiccan of the Young Avengers. Despite the mystery his character is shrouded in, Locke gave some other hints at how he'll interact with Agatha.

"He's a familiar; he's like the assistant to the coven. Teen is a big fan of witchcraft and witches, so for him to be taken under Agatha Harkness' wing and form a coven and go down the Witches' Road is his dream. He's fanboy-esque, and in his element. Which is very fun — because I was [too]!"

I can’t wait for this series! I love the world that was created in WandaVision, and I look forward to exploring this darker side of the story. Marvel Television’s Agatha All Along premieres September 18 at 6:00 p.m. PT/9:00 p.m. ET, with the first two episodes, exclusively on Disney+.
