Agent Coulson Will Be The "New Guy" in S.H.I.E.L.D in CAPTAIN MARVEL
There are a lot of things to be excited about in regards to Captain Marvel. One thing I'm looking forward to is seeing Clark Gregg return to the MCU as Agent Coulson. We know that the film will feature a much younger version of the character, and in case you're wondering how much younger and where he's at in his career at S.H.I.E.L.D. in the 90s, we have some answers for you from Gregg himself!
While talking to EW, the actor reveals that Coulson will be the new guy at S.H.I.E.L.D. when we see him in the movie.
“He’s a bit of a new guy in S.H.I.E.L.D. He’s a lot younger. It’s the earliest we will have seen him, so when he says, 'Mr. Stark, this isn’t my first rodeo' in Iron Man, this is maybe the rodeo he’s talking about."
It'll be fun to see a young version of Agent Coulson and Nick Fury teaming up for the first big otherworldly extraordinary adventure.
The film follows Carol Danvers, an Air Force pilot whose DNA is fused with that of an alien during an accident. The resulting alteration imbues her with the superpowers of strength, energy projection, and flight. Captain Marvel is said to be the most powerful superhero in the MCU. Gregg actually hints at the in the video interview below. The Kree alien race will also be a major part of the story.
Captain Marvel is being directed by Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck who directed Mississippi Grind. The most recent script comes from Geneva Robertson-Dworet (Tomb Raider). The film also stars Brie Larson, Ben Mendelsohn as the villain, Jude Law as Doctor Walter Lawson, a.k.a. Mar-Vell, Clark Gregg will reprise his role as Agent Coulson, and Lee Pace and Djimon Hounsou will be back as the Kree villain Ronan the Accuser and his henchman Korath the Pursuer. It was also recently announced that Annette Bening was joining the cast.
Captain Marvel is set to be released on March 8th, 2019.
