AGENTS OF S.H.I.E.L.D: Grant Ward Confirmed as [SPOILER]

Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D is coming back from its mid-season hiatus next week on March 8 with some new developments.

If you need a refresher since the break was so long, Ward, Coulson, and Fitz traveled through the portal to the planet Simmons was stranded on all with different motives. Unfortunately, Will (Simmons' love interest) is dead, but was impersonated by the entity that Hydra had been feeding sacrifices to and sent Ward to retrieve. Coulson ultimately "kills" Ward before returning with Fitz through the portal, but of course, Ward makes it back through, only now he may not be Ward at all.

Creators of the show Jed Whedon and Maurissa Tancharoen recently confirmed that Ward is now in fact Hive. In the comics, Hive is the product of Hydra experimentation in hopes to create a perfect embodiment of the Hydra ideals... from a bunch of parasites... Subtle, Marvel. His powers in the comics include being able to use the parasites he is made out of as projectile weapons as well as being able to breathe underwater.

However, Whedon and Tancharoen have some tricks up their sleeve as Whedon stated in an interview with Nerdist:

“Our version of Hive is going to have its own unique twist and be very different from what fans have seen so far. We will see similarities that pay homage to the original character, but fans will see that Hive is taking an exciting new direction in the world of Marvel’s Agents of S.H.IE.L.D."

Obviously, some of the origin has already changed since Hive seemed to already exist on the planet, and we are lead to believe that it is a fairly ancient being, but who knows.

Meanwhile, the development of the Secret Warriors is still underway as more Inhumans will be discovered and trained. Tune in next week on March 8 to see how the rest of season three unfolds.
