AGENTS OF SHIELD Season 6 Won't Premiere Until Summer of 2019
Yesterday it was announced that Marvel's Agents of SHIELD was officially getting a sixth season. There will be 13-episodes in that season but according to Deadline, we'll have to. wait until Summer of 2019 before we see any new episodes.
Regardless of rumors that ABC almost didn't renew it, Channing Dungey, ABC President of Entertainment made it clear that Season 6 is not envisioned as the final season. She says:
"I feel the season we just had was creatively the strongest yet. We don’t plan it as a final season. The show has a loyal passionate base. It does incredibly well in delayed viewing."
She added:
"By putting it on the summer we feel we can super-serve the show’s audience and possibly have it on the air longer."
So there ya have! It seems like Marvel's Agents of SHIELD isn't going to be canceled anytime soon. The story and the characters that fill it will continue to thrive.
Season 5 left off with Agent Coulson discovering "that some, but not all, of his SHIELD colleagues were taken with him and placed onboard a mysterious spaceship. As they come in contact with some of the vessel’s inhabitants, it becomes abundantly clear that something has gone terribly awry, and the team will need to figure out their role and delve deeper into this nightmarish mystery to try to right what has gone incredibly wrong."
Yeah, we may have to wait a little longer before we see the show back on the air, but it's being done in an effort to keep it around for as long as they can. So, it'll be worth the wait.
