AHSOKA Season 2 Wraps Filming and Sabine Wren Actress Drops Interesting Behind the Scenes Tease
Filming has officially wrapped on Ahsoka Season 2, and Natasha Liu Bordizzo, who brings Star Wars Rebels’ fan-favorite Sabine Wren to life in live-action, marked the moment with a behind-the-scenes photo that may be teasing something huge for the Star Wars galaxy.
The image, shared to her Instagram story, shows Bordizzo’s silhouette as Sabine standing beside Rosario Dawson’s Ahsoka Tano, recognizable by her distinctive lekku and head-tails. The post was captioned with, "And as for this journey… it only gets more epic."
But, fans immediately started analyzing the shot, spotting what could be a major Easter egg. The positioning of Ahsoka and Sabine’s hands appears to mirror artwork of the Mortis gods from Star Wars Rebels.
For those who need a quick lore refresher, the Mortis gods, first introduced in The Clone Wars, represent the different aspects of the Force: the Father (balance), the Daughter (light), and the Son (dark).
Their imagery is also linked to the mysterious World Between Worlds, which played a big role in Ahsoka Season 1 when Ahsoka faced her former master, Anakin Skywalker.
One fan on Reddit even compared the photo to a mural from the Lothal Jedi Temple, pointing out that the resemblance is uncanny. Given that Season 1 ended with Baylan Skoll standing atop a statue of the Father, it’s not hard to imagine Season 2 diving deeper into this Force mythology.
At the end of last season, Baylan was seen gazing out across Peridea toward massive statues of the Mortis gods of the Father, the Son, and the partially destroyed Daughter.
This tease sparked endless fan theories about what power he was seeking. Interestingly, early concept art for Ahsoka Season 2 showed Ahsoka and Sabine standing on the same Father statue, hinting that their destinies might be tied to this ancient Force mystery.
Dave Filoni added fuel to the speculation during Star Wars Celebration 2025, saying, "It's a big mystery. The Son's there, the Father's there, most of the Daughter's there. So yeah, we'll figure it out. It's a good story."
Celebration also revealed some exciting updates: Admiral Ackbar will return to go head-to-head with Grand Admiral Thrawn, while Rory McCann, who best known as The Hound from Game of Throne, will take over the role of Baylan Skoll following Ray Stevenson’s passing. Then Hayden Christensen is confirmed that Anakin Skywalker will return for Season 2.
Fans were treated to a short “concept trailer” showcasing epic art and a vintage-style voiceover teasing massive battles across two galaxies. Judging from everything we’ve heard (and Bordizzo’s hint that “it only gets more epic”), Ahsoka Season 2 is shaping up to be something truly special for Star Wars fans.
No release date has been announced yet for Ahsoka Season 2. The next stop on the Star Wars calendar is The Mandalorian and Grogu, hitting theaters on May 22, 2026.
