Alan Menken has been somewhat of a household name for decades now, or if not a household name, at least an influence, as he has written the music for tons of our favorite Disney movies like The Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast, Newsies, Aladdin, Pocahontas, Tangled, and many more. But he is still just as relevant, as he has plenty of projects coming up, namely the live action Disney remakes of Hercules, The Little Mermaid, and The Hunchback of Notre Dame, as well as the Enchanted sequel, Disenchanted, an untitled Josh Gad musical collaboration.

Now the musician has another project in store with the movie Spellbound that is being made over at Skydance animation. Menken “will be joined by lyricist and frequent collaborator Glenn Slater (Tangled) and music producer Chris Montan (The Little Mermaid, Frozen).” The animated movie will be directed by Vicky Jenson (Shrek) from a script written by Lauren Hynek & Elizabeth Martin (Mulan) and Linda Woolverton (Beauty and the Beast).

Spellbound, which may still be renamed, “centers on a young girl who must break a spell that has split her kingdom in two.” With Menken creating this soundtrack, I’m sure this movie will be great. Does it sound like a fun movie to you?
