Alan Tudyk Has Been Cast as Jafar's Parrot Iago in Disney's ALADDIN
With the new trailer for Aladdin being released today, you’d think that we knew everything that we needed to know about the film. Well, there’s a new addition to the cast of the film that has been announced that I think fans are going to love.
THR is reporting that Alan Tudyk will provide the voice of Iago in the film, Jafar’s wise-cracking parrot sidekick in the story. We’ve seen Iago flying around in the trailers, but we have yet to hear him speak. Gilbert Gottfried voiced Iago in the original animated feature, but Tudyk will make for a great addition to the film.
Tudyk has enjoyed playing in the Disney sandbox over the past few years. He has roles in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story (2016), in which he played the droid K-2SO through motion capture. He also provided the voice of King Candy in Wreck-It Ralph, Knowsmore in Ralph Breaks The Internet, and Krei in Big Hero Six: The Series.
The Guy Ritchie-directed movie also stars Will Smith as Genie, Mena Massoud as the charming scoundrel Aladdin; Naomi Scott as Jasmine, the beautiful, determined princess; Marwan Kenzari as Jafar, the powerful sorcerer; Navid Negahban as the Sultan concerned with his daughter’s future; Nasim Pedrad as Dalia, Princess Jasmine’s free-spirited best friend and confidante; Billy Magnussen as the handsome and arrogant suitor Prince Anders; and Numan Acar as Hakim, Jafar’s right-hand man and captain of the palace guards.
A thrilling and vibrant live-action adaptation of Disney’s animated classic, “Aladdin” is the exciting tale of the charming street rat Aladdin, the courageous and self-determined Princess Jasmine and the Genie who may be the key to their future.
The movie will be released on May 24th, 2019. Now, enjoy a video of Tudyk voicing the rooster Heihei from Moana.
