Alan Tudyk Says K-2SO Could Return for Disney+ Cassian Andor Series
Rogue One is my second favorite Star Wars film (it’s just my opinion; let’s not fight), and one reason for that is K-2SO, the greatest droid in the Galaxy (that’s a fact, sorry). K-2SO, played by Alan Tudyk, was sarcastic and sardonic and ultimately a really loyal friend to Cassian Andor (Diego Luna). Unfortunately, he died (spoiler, I guess), heroically sacrificing himself so that Cassian and Jyn could complete their mission. He was the BEST and it’s a total bummer that we’ll never see him again. Except… We might! Disney+ is going to have a prequel series about Cassian’s life as a rebel spy/operative, and since that’s what he was up to when he met, captured, and reprogrammed K-2SO…
Tudyk told CB, “It’s a prequel, so it is a prequel. I love those guys, I do. I love those guys. Diego Luna is one of my favorite people on the planet. I know what they’re doing, and it’s very exciting. We talked about it.”
So, that’s not a definite thing, but Lord, I hope they work it out to bring him back.
The series will follow “the adventures of rebel spy Cassian Andor during the formative years of the Rebellion and prior to the events of Rogue One… The rousing spy thriller will explore tales filled with espionage and daring missions to restore hope to a galaxy in the grip of a ruthless Empire.”
Luna previously said, “Going back to the Star Wars universe is very special for me. I have so many memories of the great work we did together and the relationships I made throughout the journey. We have a fantastic adventure ahead of us, and this new exciting format will give us the chance to explore this character more deeply.”
I was hugely pregnant when Rogue One came out, and if my husband had been at all into it, my son might be named Cassian right now, so I am obviously hugely excited for this series. Bringing back K-2SO would be the icing on the cake. Let’s keep our fingers crossed!
