Alan Tudyk is a busy guy these days. He’s been cast in DC’s Doom Patrol series and now we’re finding that Syfy has cast Tudyk in the leading role for their series adaptation of Dark Horse’s Resident Alien. Even better is that there are four others joining him: Levi Fiehler, Corey Reynolds, Sara Tomko, and Alice Wetterlund. Here’s a brief description of each of their characters and a synopsis for the comic:

The story is about an alien who crashlands on Earth, then poses as a doctor while he awaits a rescue. He is pursued by a government agency and passes his time by solving murders and other mysteries.

Tudyk will play Dr. Harry Vanderspeigle, a reclusive resident of a small Colorado town — as well as the alien who takes over his body after crashing on Earth. When the doctor is murdered, the alien has to put his secret mission aside and take the doctor’s place. As he inhabits the doctor’s body, he’ll start to wonder whether humans might be worth saving after all.

Tomko will play a resident of Patience, Colorado, named Asta Twelvetrees, who will complicate the alien’s mission considerably.

Reynolds is Sheriff Mike Thompson, who runs Patience with an iron fist, even breaking into people’s houses when he suspects they’re up to something, which is pretty much always.

Wetterlund will play former Olympic snowboarder turned ski patrol member D’Arcy Morin, who uses a mortar launcher to clear avalanches and occasionally just blow off some steam.

Fiehler plays recent college grad Ben Hawthorne, who ran for mayor to pad his resumé and now finds himself dealing with the fallout from a grisly murder.

This sounds like it could be a really cool show. I may have to go read some more comics! Chris Sheridan adapted the comic which was originally written by Peter Hogan and Steve Parkhouse. Sheridan will also be an executive producer along with Dark Horse’s Mike Richardson and Keith Goldberg and Amblin TV’s Justin Falvey and Darryl Frank.
