Alan Tudyk on Coming Back to the Role of K-2SO in the CASSIAN ANDOR Series
Alan Tudyk is in so many movies and series. He is a hilarious and talented actor who is so great in front of the camera as well as voicing some great characters and bringing some to life from inside costumes. While we don’t know much yet about the Cassian Andor Star Wars series that’s coming to Disney+, we do know that Tudyk will be back to bring the droid K-2SO to the screen alongside his co-star Diego Luna, who will reprise his role as Cassian Andor.
At the Television Critics Association panel for his upcoming Syfy series Resident Alien, Tudyk spoke with reporters about playing the part, saying:
“Playing with Cassian, playing with Diego Luna and being in the world of Star Wars again. Especially after seeing The Mandalorian and seeing what they can do with a series, how much fun it is to just go into smaller stories and tell stories that way.”
He goes all in when taking on the part of the droid. Producers offered Tudyk a body double to perform inside the droid costume for the motion capture, but Tudyk said:
“I don’t want anybody else doing that,” Tudyk said. “It means a lot to me. They offered it but it’s not a voice over job for me. Because his face doesn’t move, that’s what you have is your body to show emotion. And because of Sonny [his character in I, Robot] and just because of theater, I’m trained. I studied that and it’s something I enjoy.”
He went on to describe the experience of wearing stilts for the role:
“By the time I was done, I never took ‘em off. I used to put them on, take them off, put them on, take them off throughout the day,” Tudyk said. “By the end, I was like don’t even take them off. I like being tall and there isn’t anything I can’t do in them.”
That’s pretty awesome! He’s such a good actor, and I’m excited for the Cassian Andor series. Are you pumped for it?!
