Alex Garland Has Written a Family Horror Film Called THE TOYMAKER'S SECRET
The writer and director of Ex Machina and Annihilation, Alex Garland, has written a script for a film called The Toymaker's Secret. The film project is very different from his previous adult-themed films as it is a horror movie that the whole family can enjoy.
TriStar Pictures has landed the rights to the film, which tells the story of "an American family who moves into an old Victorian house in London and begins to believe it might be haunted."
Garland is only providing the script for the film and will be a producer. It will be directed by Paloma Baeza. When talking about the movie, Hannah Minghella, president of TriStar Pictures said:
"The Toymaker’s Secret is an original movie with such heart and humor and magic that it is sure to become an instant classic for the whole family. We are thrilled to be working with Paloma on her debut feature and with Alex and Andrew who are both long-time friends and creative partners."
Baeza then added that film will combine animation with live-action:
"We couldn’t be more delighted to begin this adventure with TriStar. Hannah’s enthusiasm and insight are the perfect fit for an exciting collaboration. This project will join my love of animation with a live-action world, and it’s fantastic to be bringing this story to life."
Alex Garland has told some incredible stories in his career. He's a very talented screenwriter and I'm really curious and excited to see how The Toymaker's Secret turns out.
