Alex Honnold Hits the Road for New Nevada Adventure Series GET A LITTLE OUT THERE
Alex Honnold, the fearless climber who stunned the world in the Oscar-winning documentary Free Solo, has found his next challenge, and it’s a lot closer to home.
The legendary adventurer is set to host a new travel and exploration series called Get a Little Out There With Alex Honnold, premiering in 2026 across the Outside network.
This five-episode series will take Honnold across the wild and often overlooked landscapes of Nevada, his home state. Traveling in his van, he’ll explore hidden gems, from remote desert crags to quirky roadside attractions that capture the Silver State’s offbeat charm.
According to the official description, the show “combines outdoor exploration, culture, and the delightfully strange roadside attractions that dot Nevada’s highways,” and offers “a timely perspective on how unplugging from daily routines and venturing into unfamiliar terrain – like stargazing among 4,500 visible stars in Great Basin National Park or mining for turquoise to make jewelry in central Nevada – can alter our view of the world and ourselves.”
Developed in partnership with Travel Nevada, the series is executive produced by David Klimek and Jeff Moore, with J.J. Kelley directing.
For Honnold, this project is personal. “Involvement in this series is awesome for me,” he said in a statement to Variety. “My love for adventure matches the spirit of Nevada. Red Rock has been a huge part of my life, but Nevada still surprises me with how much there is to see and do. I’m excited to explore the hidden corners of this state and share what makes it so special.”
Honnold has always been synonymous with pushing limits. His free solo ascent of El Capitan’s 3,000-foot “Freerider” route in Yosemite National Park, as chronicled in Free Solo, remains one of the greatest feats in climbing history.
And he’s not slowing down. Just last week, it was revealed that his next daring pursuit will be scaling Taiwan’s 1,667-foot Taipei 101 skyscraper for a Netflix live event premiering in early 2026.
