Alex Proyas Seems to Find Joy in the Failure of THE CROW Remake After Saying He Doesn't

Director Rupert Sanders' remake of The Crow has bombed at the box office making only $4.6 million throughout its opening weekend. That’s gotta be a rough blow for the director and Lionsgate, but I think anyone with any kind of common sense knew that this reimagining was not going to do well.

The director of the original film, Alex Proyas, is now having fun with The Crow's disappointing box office performance and he’s clearly find joy in its failure.

In a series of Facebook posts, Proyas said: "Wow. Box office is a bloodbath. I thought the remake was a cynical cash-grab. Not much cash to grab it seems."

He also shared screenshots of negative reviews, and posted a meme that stated, "Marked Safe From Seeing 'CROW' 2024 Today."

What’s funny is that this reaction contradicts something that Proyas previously said after the first trailer for the film was released, which was met with an overwhelmingly negative response.

He said: "I really don't get any joy from seeing negativity about any fellow filmmaker's work. And I'm certain the cast and crew really had all good intentions, as we all do on any film. So it pains me to say any more on this topic, but I think the fan's response speaks volumes."

He is clearly now finding joy in the negativity of his fellow filmmaker’s failure.

Proyas continued: "The Crow is not just a movie. Brandon Lee died making it, and it was finished as a testament to his lost brilliance and tragic loss. It is his legacy. That's how it should remain.

“The sheer amount of dislikes on The Crow remake's trailer might be a bad sign for how the movie will perform."

He was right about that. Everyone except the people working on the film at Lionsgate seemed to know that this wasn’t going to work.
