Alexandra Shipp Has Joined the Cast of Greta Gerwig's Live-Action BARBIE Movie

Alexandra Shipp (Straight Outta Compton, X-Men Apocalypse, Tick, Tick… Boom!) is the latest actress to join the live-action Barbie film that is being directed by Oscar-winner Greta Gerwig (Ladybird, Little Women), from a script she co-wrote with Noah Baumbach (The Life Aquatic With Steve Zissou, Marriage Story). She joins previously announced actors Margot Robbie, who will play Barbie, and Ryan Gosling, who will play Ken.

Shipp’s role is currently unknown, along with other co-stars America Ferrera, Kate McKinnon, Simu Liu, and Ariana Greenblatt. The story that will be told in the film is still being kept under wraps, but I’m hoping we hear more about it soon.

While we wait, Shipp can be seen in the action crime comedy Kung Fury 2, opposite Arnold Schwarzenegger and Michael Fassbender, out later this year, as well as the romance sci-fi comedy Space Oddity, from director Kyra Sedgwick, which is in post-production.
