Alfred Molina Got in "Such Trouble" with Marvel and Sony When He Spoiled Doc Ock's Return in SPIDER-MAN: NO WAY HOME
Alfred Molina's return as Doc Ock in Spider-Man: No Way Home didn’t end up being the big surprise that Marvel and Sony were hoping for. The actor accidentally spoiled his return in an interview. It was just a slip of the tongue, but Marvel and Sony bosses were not happy.
During a recent interview with RadioTimes, Molina was asked about the incident, saying: "Just accidentally, I was talking to a journalist who said, 'So, you know, how's the Spider-Man movie going?' And I went, 'Oh, great thanks'. Then literally the next day, Variety was like, 'Alfred Molina reveals Doc Ock returns."
He went on to talk about the reaction from Marvel and Sony, saying: “And I got into such trouble. I was getting phone calls from Amy Pascal, Kevin Feige was on the red carpet somewhere and somebody asked him about some Marvel movie and apparently, he got a bit snippy and turned around and said, 'Ask Alfred Molina.'"
Molina won’t be making that same mistake again! When asked if his character would appear in the MCU again, he replied: "I can neither confirm nor deny. That's the official line. I got into a bit of trouble over the last iteration because I happened to let the cat out of the bag quite innocently.”
Regardless of knowing that Doc Ock would return, along with every other character that was supposed to be a surprise, like Andrew Garfield and Tobey Maguire's iterations of Spider-Man, Willem Dafoe's Green Goblin, and Jamie Foxx's Electro, it was still a great film that audiences had a ton of fun watching!
But seriously, can anyone really get mad at Alfred Molina?
