Alicia Vikander to Star Opposite Aaron Taylor-Johnson in Netflix Limited Series ENIGMA VARIATIONS Based on Best-Seller
Academy Award winner Alicia Vikander (The Danish Girl, Ex Machina) has signed on to star opposite Aaron Taylor-Johnson (Kick-Ass, The Fall Guy) in the Netflix limited series Enigma Variations, based on author André Aciman’s bestselling novel of the same name.
Aciman previously wrote the novel Call Me By Your Name, which was made into an Academy Award winning film.
With a script adapted by Amanda Kate Shuman (The Blacklist, The Wheel of Time) and director Oliver Hermanus (Living, The History of Sound) on board, Enigma Variations tells the story of Paul (Taylor-Johnson), a man remade by the lovers who ignite and undo him across ten transformative years.
It’s an intimate yet sweeping portrait of masculinity, sexuality, and modern love—and in a world of endless choices, it asks the question: will we know when we’ve found the one?
Vikander will play one of Paul’s love interests, Claire, to whom he gets married in the book as he alternates between male and female partners.
Vikander was recently seen in The Wizard of the Kremlin opposite Jude Law, which premiered at the Venice Film Festival and making her UK theater debut in The Lady From the Sea opposite Andrew Lincoln.
This year, she has sci-fi thriller Hope from director Na Hong-jin, visual artist Rachel Rose’s debut feature The Last Day, which premiered at Tribeca, and Andrea Pallaoro’s The Echo Chamber, from an unfinished script by Bernardo Bertolucci.
She is in production on The Worst, from playwright-director Simon Woods, opposite Jamie Dornan and Keira Knightley.
