Alicia Vikander's Lara Croft is Featured in a New Photo From The Upcoming TOMB RAIDER Film

Thanks to Empire, we have a new photo from the director Roar Uthaug's upcoming Tomb Raider movie. It offers us a new look at Alicia Vikander striking a familiar pose as Lara Croft armed with a bow and arrow. When talking about the character and how they wanted to approach her in the film, Vikander said:

"We asked, ‘What are the famous traits of this person? ‘How can we demonstrate them in the story, but make her feel like a young woman in 2018?’”

When previously talking about the character, the actress said:

“She has all the fierce, tough, curious, intelligent traits, but we’ve stripped away all of her experience. She hasn’t gone on an adventure just yet. She thought he was a stuck up business person living in the modern youth culture of suburban London, but then this whole box of information. This is the beginning.”

I've got high hope for this movie because I'm a big fan of Vikander and I don't want to see her make a shitty movie. Tomb Raider also stars Walton Goggins as Father Mathias Vogel; Daniel Wu as Lu Ren, the ship captain who helps Lara in searching for her Father; Dominic West as Lord Richard Croft, Lara's deceased archaeologist father; and Hannah John-Kamen as Sophie, Croft's flatmate and best friend.

Here's the official plot synopsis that was released:

“Seven years after the disappearance of her father, 21-year-old Lara has refused to take the reins of his global business empire, instead working as a bike courier in London while taking college classes. Eventually she becomes inspired to investigate her father’s disappearance and travels to his last-known location: a tomb on an island somewhere off the coast of Japan. Suddenly, the stakes couldn’t be higher for Lara, who—against the odds and armed with only her sharp mind, blind faith and inherently stubborn spirit—must learn to push herself beyond her limits as she journeys into the unknown. If she survives this perilous adventure, it could be the making of her, earning her the name Tomb Raider.”

The movie hits theaters March 16th 2018.
