ALIEN: EARTH Renewed for Season 2 as Noah Hawley Expands Deal with FX and Disney

FX is officially returning to the terrifying world of Alien: Earth. The hit sci-fi series from Noah Hawley has been renewed for a second season, and with that announcement comes another major reveal, Hawley has signed a massive new overall deal with FX and Disney Entertainment Television reportedly worth nine figures.

Production for Season 2 will shift from Thailand to London, with filming expected to begin next year.

Inspired by Ridley Scott’s legendary Alien franchise, Alien: Earth brought the xenomorph mythos to TV with strong creative backing from Scott Free Productions and its president David W. Zucker, who serves as an executive producer.

The first season became an instant favorite among fans and critics alike, earning a 94% Certified Fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes and an 85 Metacritic Must-Watch score.

FX Chairman John Landgraf praised Hawley’s continued partnership, saying, “It has been our great privilege to work with Noah for more than a decade on some of FX’s best and biggest shows, and we are thrilled to extend our partnership well into the future.

“Noah never stops surprising us with truly original stories— and his unique ability to bring them to vibrant life as a director and producer as well as writer makes him extraordinary. We can’t wait to get to work on the next season of Alien: Earth, as well as some equally exciting future projects in advanced development.”

In a statement, Hawley expressed his excitement about the future: “I’m thrilled that this expanded deal opens the door to new opportunities across all of Disney Entertainment Television. FX has always supported bold, character-driven storytelling.

“From the very beginning with Fargo, they’ve encouraged me to take creative risks and follow the story wherever it leads. I’m grateful to continue exploring the world of Alien: Earth alongside our partners, cast, and crew as we begin the next chapter.”

The first season of Alien: Earth starred Sydney Chandler and featured a stellar ensemble that included Alex Lawther, Timothy Olyphant, Essie Davis, Samuel Blenkin, Babou Ceesay, David Rysdahl, Adrian Edmondson, Adarsh Gourav, Jonathan Ajayi, Erana James, Lily Newmark, Diem Camille, and Moe Bar-El.

The series was created and executive produced by Hawley, alongside Ridley Scott, David W. Zucker, Clayton Krueger, Emilia Serrano, Bob DeLaurentis, Peter Calloway, Monica Macer, John Campisi, and Simon Emanuel. Alien: Earth is produced by FX Productions.

Eric Schrier, President of Disney Television Studios & Global Original Television Strategy, said: “I learned first-hand that Noah was a unique talent while we worked on Fargo at FX.

“He has gone on to make many of the best shows in television, and I couldn’t be more excited that Noah will continue his FX partnership and broaden it across Disney Entertainment Television.”

With Hawley staying firmly planted in the FX universe and Alien: Earth heading into another season, fans can expect the next installment to dive even deeper into the chilling, cinematic horror that made the series so damn good.
