ALIEN: ROMULUS Had a Great Opening Weekend with $108.2 Million
Director Fede Alvarez’s Alien: Romulus had a great opening weekend as it scared up $108.2 million in its global box office debut.
Alien: Romulus earned $41.5 million domestically in its opening weekend making it the second-highest start of the franchise behind Prometheus, which made $51 million. The movie also earned $66.7 million from 49 international territories.
David A. Gross, who runs the movie consulting firm Franchise Entertainment Research, said in a statement: “A big part of Alien’s success has been overseas.
“Romulus will follow that pattern, but we also expect the foreign numbers to be off to some degree because several horror movies are doing less foreign business since the pandemic.”
Blake Lively’s It Ends With Us came in seconds and has now made a total of $180 million globally after just 10 days of release. Deadpool & Wolverine came in third and has made a total of $1.14 billion globally..
I’m happy to see Alien: Romulus succeed at the box office! It was a great sci-fi horror movie and with the movie being a success the franchise will be able to live on and the story can continue with a sequel.
