All Five FANTASTIC BEASTS Movies Will Be Set in Different Cities

One of the things that I liked about Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them was that it was set in America. It offers Harry Potter fans a glimpse at the magical world of Harry Potter outside of England. Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald will take us to another location in the world. That story will mostly be set in Paris.

Director David Yates has now revealed that the remaining three films will also be set in different cities. Of course, he wouldn't reveal what those cities will be. While talking to EW, he was asked if each of the films would be set in different cities and this was his reply:

“Yes. Jo’s already told us where the next one is taking place. It’s very exciting. This is a global story, ultimately. And given that there’s a global audience for this, it’s all the more delightful to take the story to different parts of the world.”

I love the fact that we are going to see how this magical world mixes in with all these different cultures. Even though Yates doesn't say where the other films will take place, EW speculates:

Germany would seem to be a likely target given all the World War II allusions in the story of Grindelwald (the prison Grindelwald eventually builds to house his enemies, for example, is called Nurmengard — which is speculated to have been inspired by the German city of Nuremberg). To see the wizarding world version of Japan would be amazing, so let’s hope for that. One clue would be the whereabouts of the fateful 1945 duel between Dumbledore and Grindelwald — since we know that’s coming eventually — but the location of that event not been previously disclosed.

If they don't set one of these films in Japan, I'm going to be pissed! I love the thought of one of these films being set in Japan. There's so much cool stuff in that culture to play with. What are some areas that you'd like to see explored in the future Fantastic Beasts films?

When previously talking about the directon of the upcoming film, producer David Heyman said:

“We delve deeper into [J.K. Rowling’s] wizarding world — we’re in Paris, we’re in London and New York — the world is expanding. As you can tell from the [cast photo], we’re following quite a few characters. The new film has a very different feel than the first. It’s got a thriller quality. And it’s also a story about love and passion and all its forms — paternal, romantic, political. And it’s just a thrilling and very fun adventure. We took all we’ve learned from one and just expanded that and created a richer, deeper and more thrilling film which I’m excited to be a part of.”

I have a feeling these films are just going to get more and more interesting as they continue. Here's the synopsis for the next movie:

At the end of the first film, the powerful Dark wizard Gellert Grindelwald (Depp) was captured by MACUSA (Magical Congress of the United States of America), with the help of Newt Scamander (Redmayne). But, making good on his threat, Grindelwald escaped custody and has set about gathering followers, most unsuspecting of his true agenda: to raise pure-blood wizards up to rule over all non-magical beings.
In an effort to thwart Grindelwald’s plans, Albus Dumbledore (Law) enlists his former student Newt Scamander, who agrees to help, unaware of the dangers that lie ahead. Lines are drawn as love and loyalty are tested, even among the truest friends and family, in an increasingly divided wizarding world.

Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald will debut in theaters November 16, 2018.
