All of Netflix's Former Marvel Shows Are Coming to Disney+ This Month
A couple of weeks ago it was reported that all of Netflix’s Marvel shows would be leaving the streaming service. Well, it’s been announced that all of these shows including Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, Iron Fist, The Punisher, and The Defenders as well as Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., will be coming to Disney+ this month on March 16th.
These will be the first shows to come to Disney+ that will come with a TV-MA rating. To accommodate the introduction of TV-MA programming, Disney+ will be updating its existing Parental Controls in the U.S.
On the day that the shows drop on Disney+, all subscribers in the U.S. will be prompted to update their Parental Controls. This will include an option to select content ratings restrictions for each profile, and users will be able to add a PIN to lock profiles, and enable a Kid-Proof Exit feature to prevent viewers from leaving their Kids Profile without completing an exit challenge.
Feige previously talked about working with Disney+ on their shows, saying, “It’s been fun to work with Disney+ and see the boundaries shifting on what we’re able to do.” He went on to talk about the Moon Knight series describing it as “loud and brutal.” He also said, “The knee-jerk reaction is, ‘We’re gonna pull back on this, right?’ No. We’re not pulling back. There’s a tonal shift.”
With the TV-MA rating being implemented on Disney+, I imagine we’ll start seeing more dark, adult-themed content on the streaming service moving forward.
Michael Paull, President of Disney Streaming said in a statement, “Disney+ has served as the home for some of the most beloved brands in the industry, and the addition of these live-action shows brings more from the Marvel brand together, all in one place. We have experienced great success with an expanded content offering on Disney+ across our global markets and are excited to continue that here in the U.S. as well by offering our consumers not only great content with the new Marvel additions, but also a set of features that help ensure a viewing experience most suitable for them and their family.”
