Amanda Peet and Christian Slater Have Joined DIRTY JOHN Anthology Series Season 2
Amanda Peet (A Lot Like Love, The Way Way Back) and Christian Slater (True Romance, Mr. Robot) have been hired on to star in the second season of the anthology series Dirty John. The first season starred Connie Britton and Eric Bana and was based on the podcast of the same name which chronicled the true story of the creep John Meehan who went after the rich and lovely Debra Newell and tried to ruin her life through manipulation and intimidation. In the end, he got what was coming to him.
Now we will have a new story of love and insanity with the second season. Deadline offer the following story details:
In Season 2, which will feature an all-female directing team, Betty Broderick (Peet) is the perfect Southern California blonde wife and mother. Married to her handsome college boyfriend Dan (Slater), Betty charms everyone she meets. After years of sacrifice and suffering while supporting Dan through both medical and law school until he exploded onto the San Diego legal scene as a superstar, Betty is finally enjoying the fruits of their labors. That is, until Dan hires Linda, a bright, beautiful young woman without baggage with whom he can happily forget the struggles of his past. Betty’s attempts to fight back and enraged refusals to accept reality only serve to isolate and destabilize her until she loses her very identity. And Dan’s cold confidence blinds him to the bear he has created, and won’t stop poking … until it’s too late.
This sounds fascinating, and I love Slater and Peet, so I am really looking forward to the story this next season will pick up on. The season is in pre-production, and we are expected to see it early next year.
Did you watch the first season and are you excited for this new one?
